18-year-old boy allegedly shot dead for slapping a police officer

An 18-year-old boy has allegedly been shot dead by a police officer because he retaliated when the officer slapped him.
Awuzie Duru, 18, was allegedly killed within the premises of a new generation bank branch at Umuaka on Sunday, December 1.
According to reports, Awuzie, popularly known as Aboy, from Isiozi Aka in Umuaka, Imo state, had gone to the bank to withdraw money from the bank’s ATM gallery. The boy took his space on the line and other newcomers took their place behind him.
After a while, Awuzie left the line to answer a call. When he returned to take his place on the ATM queue, the bank customer who was behind him refused to let him back on the line.
This led to a verbal confrontation. A policeman present witnessed the confrontation but did not interfere.
The fight soon turned physical and the policeman got involved and started scolding Awuzie.
According to The Nation, Awuzie then told the officer that he refused to do anything when the were simply exchanging words but wants to scold him now that it has turned into a physical fight.
At this, the officer reportedly slapped Awuzie for talking back at him. Awuzie slapped back and the officer allegedly shot him.
The boy’s killing stirred up tension in the town as the youths in the area began planning an attack on the police station.
According to village sources, the youths mobilised to attack the police station but some elders appealed to them to allow the police hierarchy handle the matter.
An elder in the area told The Nation: “I can tell you that the boys were not happy with the matter is that policeman killed the boy over an altercation. So, they had mobilised to burn down the station to show their anger and loss.
“But, some of us had to intervene because this kind of thing has happened here before about 15 years ago when some policemen caused the death of some people in Umuaka here and our youths burned down the police station. So we don’t want this kind of thing to happen anymore.
“Some of them are still planning to launch an attack but we’re still appealing to them.”
The state police commissioner, Rabiu Ladodo confirmed the incident. He added that the command was doing everything possible to contain any further crisis that might arise from the incident.
Ladodo also disclosed that the policeman involved had been arrested and will be punished if found guilty.

Meet 20-year-old Woman Who Lives Together With Her Four Male Lovers (Photos)

A young woman in her 20s who lives with her four male lovers has shared her experience with the world.
Tory Ojeda and her lovers

A pregnant 20-year-old lady who is in a polyamorous relationship with four men is planning to raise her baby with all her lovers.

Tory Ojeda lives with her partners in Jacksonville, Florida.

The mum-to-be began the polyamorous relationship three years ago when she met one of her partners Marc, 18, in high school and then got into a relationship with Travis, 23, two months later.

Back in July, she announced her engagement to Travis before falling in love with their long-term mutual friend Ethan, 22, and Christopher, 22, who is the baby’s father.

Speaking to Barcroft TV, she said: “Chris is the biological father. We just know that because of timing and when the approximate conception date was. Based on the approximate conception day, we had been on vacation. So it was only us. But as far as I guess, socially goes, we’re all raising the baby together, so everyone’s dad. We’re all very, very excited to be raising a baby together.”

During the interview, she also said her boyfriends are “welcome” to pursue other people if they wish to.

“Honestly, I would love it if somebody found a second partner. Dividing the time and figuring out schedules between all five people and making sure everyone feels included, it’s kind of difficult. I’d like to not be the only woman in the relationship. That would be nice.”

On how they get intimate, she said they all have their bedrooms but her partners “swap in and out” of her bed, each night, making sure each of them gets an “equal turn” in spending the night with her.

Answering questions on jealousy, Ethan said: “There are a couple of healthy ways to deal with it. Primarily just talking to each other.”

She added: “There’s always going to be like little moments of jealousy, it does take a certain amount of restraint and just getting relaxed. I will say it helps if you know the person.”

Reflecting on his own experiences in his current relationship, he said: “Seeing [Tory] with Ethan was a lot easier because I was friends with him. She and Chris were a bit dicier at first, there was a lot more jealousy and I’ll openly admit that. The same goes for Marc because I’d never interacted with them.”

On what her family and friends think about her relationship, Tory said: “Most of my friends know all my partners and they love us and think that we’re cute and such. My family is kind of quiet about their disapproval.

“Polyamory is an uncommon thing. A lot of people have grown up in monogamy culture of, you don’t love someone if you have eyes for somebody else.”

Christopher added: “My family is slowly coming around to the idea. The pregnancy has helped with that. But at the very beginning, I know my mother and father were hesitant about it.

On the reaction, she gets from people about the bizarre relationship, she said: “We get weird looks. I’ve had people just say rude comments when we’ve just been hanging out at a fast food place. I’ve been called a hoe more than once. Maybe in our future, we might see it become a common thing where people don’t bat an eye on it anymore at all. One can hope.”

Unbelievable! N675 Billion Bribes Were Paid To Nigerian Public Officials In 2019 - New Report Reveals

The unbelievably huge amount of bribes that were paid to public officials in Nigeria in 2019 alone has been revealed.
Bribe taking officials
According to a Punch Metro report, an estimated N675bn was paid in cash bribes to Nigerian public officials this year, according to a new survey by the National Bureau of Statistics and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime.

The report, which was released on Friday said out of all Nigerians who had at least one contact with a public official in the 12 months prior to the 2019 survey, 30.2 per cent paid a bribe to, or were asked to pay a bribe by, a public official.

“This means that, although still relatively high, the prevalence of bribery in Nigeria has undergone a moderate, yet statistically significant, decrease since 2016, when it stood at 32.3 per cent,”
 it added.

According to the survey, cash continues to be the dominant type of bribe.

It said, “More than 93 per cent of all bribes paid in 2019 was paid in cash, a slightly larger share than in 2016. According to the 2019 survey, the average cash bribe paid is N5,754, a sum equivalent to roughly $52 in purchasing power parity.

“Overall, it is estimated that a total of roughly N675bn was paid in cash bribes to public officials in Nigeria in 2019, corresponding to 0.52 per cent of the entire Gross Domestic Product of Nigeria.”

According to the report, the economic cost of bribery becomes even more palpable when considering that, on average, bribe-payers pay an amount equivalent to six per cent of the average annual income of Nigerians.

It said differently from actual trends of bribery experience, more than half of Nigerians believed that corruption increased in the two years prior to the 2019 survey.

The report said the analysis of the list of the most pressing problems afflicting the country, as reported by Nigerian citizens in 2019, showed that corruption has moved from 3rd to 5th position, as there had been a sharp increase in the level of public concern about security and health issues.

“Around nine per cent of Nigerians considered corruption to be the most important problem facing their country, a significant
decrease from the 14 per cent recorded in the 2016 survey.”
 it added.

The survey found that although a smaller percentage of Nigerians that had contact with public officials paid bribes, or were asked to pay
bribes, those who did pay bribes continued to do so quite frequently.

It said, “In 2019, Nigerian bribe-payers paid an average of six bribes in the 12 months prior to the survey, or one bribe every two months, which is virtually the same as the average of 5.8 bribes paid per bribe-payer in 2016.

“As a result, it is estimated that some 117 million bribes are paid in Nigeria on a yearly basis, the equivalent of 1.1 bribes per adult.”

A husband in China has touched the hearts of millions after letting his heavily pregnant wife sit on his back when she was waiting to see her doctor at a hospital, according to Dailymail.

A trending video released by police shows the mother-to-be with a bulging belly appearing tired and struggling to stand due to numbing legs outside a consultation room.

Her partner then sat down on the floor and gestured her to lean against him after none of the people sitting in the corridor offered their seats to her.

The expectant mother sat on her husband's back after he told her to while holding onto a railing on the wall.

The caring man then passed a water bottle to his wife to make sure that she would not be thirsty during the lengthy waiting period.

The heart-warming clip was shared by the police of Hegang, a city in the province of Heilongjiang in north-eastern China.

It was posted onto Hegang police's official account on short-video app Douyin on Sunday and has so far been liked seven million times.

In a post accompanying the video, the police criticised the onlookers, most of whom were staring at their phones. They said that the clip should be titled 'indifference'.

The police then prompted viewers to give Kudos to the 'good husband', and many followers did so.

One such comment on Douyin read: 'A good man and good husband from China.'

Another person wrote on the app: 'The husband can hold up skies. Kudos to him.'

A third viewer said: 'I felt ashamed of myself while watching the man sitting down. I didn't treat my wife so well when she was pregnant.'

Some people however pointed out that there were empty seats at the end of the corridor and argued that the woman could have rested there.

One note said: 'There were many seats not far away if she had walked a few steps further.'

But such viewers quickly met their opposition.

Some of the disagreeing comments claimed that the woman would not be able to hear the doctor calling her name should she sit there.

Others argued that it would have been too difficult for her to move that far considering her physical condition at the time.
