Official: Man Utd star finally returns to Serie A

Manchester United have confirmed the departure of Matteo Darmian who returned to Serie A to join Parma. The Italian defender signed a five-year contract with Parma after spending four seasons at Old Trafford.
The 29-year-old is believed to have cost the Serie A side around €1.5 million (£1.3m/$1.6m).

Manchester United released an official statement on their website to announce the departure of the right full-back.

“Manchester United can confirm that defender Matteo Darmian has signed for Italian side Parma,” the club stated.

“The full-back joined the Reds from Torino in 2015 and went on to make 92 appearances for the club.

“In four years with us, Matteo scored one goal – a sublime volley against Crystal Palace in 2016, in a 2-0 victory at Old Trafford. Everyone at Manchester United would like to thank Matteo for his service and wish him all the best for the future.”

Parma also released an official statement to announce the deal.

“Parma Calcio 1913 is delighted to announce the signature of Matteo Darmian (Legnano, 2/12/1989) from Manchester United on a permanent contract. The player has signed a deal with the Crociati until 30/06/2023.”
Darmian departure adds to the list of players that have left Old Trafford this summer with likes of Romelu Lukaku, Alexis Sanchez, and Chris Smalling already moving to Serie A.
